It's 50:50 on my scope too.
Robin's info is not entirely accurate.

I measured it at 40us, IIRC.
I generate the non-slide pulse with that length in the MIDIBass 303
interface.
You need to make the pulse quite a bit longer before you can hear any 'slide
on every note' effect.

Nope. It's all pretty straight forward.
No voodoo involved.
If you copy the original circuit, and use the same timings, it will sound
the same.
