Yes, George's works were probably the seed for my wondering.

I'm sure I chatted with him about the VCA and have a feeling it is 
discrete using matched pairs (prob. Linear Systems ones)

Every time I see him he moans that he somehow can't subscribe / post 
with SDIY.
