Yeah, and switching supplies are difficult to troubleshoot- cascading multiple catastrophic component failures, delightful electrocution hazards (remember to use differential oscilloscope probes on the primary side!)... And if you're really lucky they'll put out high voltage and ruin everything connected to them.
