I use Brother P-Touch label, Black on Aluminum which looks really good on brushed or anodized aluminum...
I've also used AlumaJet which is excellent but expensive...

I use a cheap Brother device for labeling which works reasonably well.
So far (several months later) no problems with labels coming off once I
have adhered them firmly to the bare aluminum panels
