Hi!
I am also using the cheap bother printers. Works well, you just have to take care that the labels don't get too hot as they are made by a thermoprinter...
Another method is printing on normal paper and use hot laminating on a sticky foil and glueing this to the alu panel.

I use a cheap Brother device for labeling which works reasonably well.
So far (several months later) no problems with labels coming off once I have adhered them firmly to the bare aluminum panels
