Why not one?
Because then you need mixer modules instead.

It moves the user interaction from the actual module, adding some
confusion, and it rarely even saves panel components. It's a matter of
taste I guess, but I personally think that this need of mixer modules
(or, even worse, attenuator modules) is an extremely bad UI design.
:-)

(N.B.: This applies also to audio inputs... for instance, designing a
VCF with a single audio input is a huge mistake considering how often
a user would want to sum 2 or 3 signals there.)
