Hi Ian,
On my modules, I like any CV parameter to have an "Initial" control to
set a base / offset voltage, at least one CV input of course, and an
attenuator for that input. Basically, that means that three panel
components are required for any CV parameter (two pots and a jack). I
understand the reasoning (to preserve an aesthetic, or just plain old
lack of panel space), but I still find it annoying when I run into CV
or Audio inputs without attenuators. It generally means I now have to
patch in another module to control the input levels.
For VCO frequency or VCF frequency, I like to have three inputs with
attenuators, along with Fine and Coarse Initial Frequency controls.
For something like VCF resonance, I could probably live with one
input, an attenuator, and the Initial control.
