You buy this:

http://www.howardelectronics.com/den-on/sc7000.html

you do not complain about the price. Because once you use it for 30 seconds,
you will kick yourself for not having it years ago.

EASILY the best $$ you will EVER spend if you solder/desolder a lot (like
FOR A LIVING).

Subject: [sdiy] tips for rotary switch removal?

I have an important board that I need to fix which has a 8 way rotary switch
which is bad.

so that is 10 pins total to desolder.

every time I have tried to desolder one before I end up damaging the board
trying to rip the switch out.

and advice on this?

should i first try to break the switch?

should i crank the temp on my soldering iron when desoldering?

should I use wick? etc

thanks for any help
