Seconded. One problem with sub-D is size, though. Rewirable
plugs are about 31 x 16 mm, twice the footprint of a DIN or
phone jack. Moulded plugs are close to parity with 22 x 11 mm.

Alternatively, there are IDC sub-D.

Wouldn't eight ASM-1 boards have too many LFOs and way too few
VCAs ?
