If you simply want to ping the server, you can send an empty e-mail to
<synth-diy-request at dropmix.xs4all.nl>, which will give you a response
within a minute if the server is up and working. This is true for all
MailMan lists; you can simply add -request at the end of the list
address to talk to the server interface. (You can also give the list
robot the command help, in the title or body of the message, which
makes it tell you what it can do to serve you.)
