The SSM2040 must be the filter chip that most people regard the
highest, but early Prophet~5 is the only synth where the majority of
people have heard it. Other filter favourites are often situated in
monophonic synths, where the filter is often used more radically.
Would you say that the sound of the SSM2040 is primarily a "good
polysynth filter sound" or does it fight with the top ones in
monophonic applications too?
