If you can use a different waveform for each oscillator, the phase of each harmonic can be distributed (i.e. differently offset for each oscillator) for smoother phasing. In the case of 2 oscillators, a Hilbert transform can be used so that all the harmonics don't simultaneously cancel or reinforce.
