[sdiy] SOLVED RE: AX60 Voice Issue

It can still get nasty with the resonance all the way up, especially with the VCO MOD, but at least now you get a smooth travel from zero resonance up until oscillation; better resolution from the slider in the most usable portion of the resonance range.
What i did was cut the 4.13v trace on each side of the resonance slider pin, and added a 4.7k resistor in series with the slider, connecting back to the 4.13v trace.
This brings my max resonance voltage down to about 2.4v (enough to get it oscillating), instead of 4.13v.
Make sure to reconnect that 4.13v trace around the resonance pin, or the sliders to the right will not function.

I ended up just probing the signal flow at various points and narrowing it down that way. Bypassing TR2 restores normal behavior. I'd be curious to hear insight from someone who understands the circuit.
>>> In other news, I took the opportunity to put a resistor in series with the resonance pot to limit the voltage to a range closer to what's recommended in the CEM3394 datasheet (2.5v vs. 4.13v). Now I get a very smooth response, with self-oscillation when the slider is at about 95%, instead of the typical 40%. Makes the synth feel much less angry. I got the idea from this analysis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5ikCDzhFRA
