Hello Everyone,
I recently acquired a DX7II-FD and everything works great, except I can’t seem to get aftertouch working on the local keyboard. I made a test patch where I maxed out all the aftertouch settings. From an external midi keyboard connected to Midi In, aftertouch works perfectly and is extremely responsive. All other expression functions on the local keyboard work perfectly (velocity, mod wheel, pitch wheel).
Here is what I’ve done:
- Checked the two leads from the aftertouch strip and they are still soldered on tightly. Tested conductance on each of the two AT strip leads back to the other end of the cable it is soldered to and it tests fine.
- Tested conductance on each of the 4 pins on the cable that goes from the aftertouch sensor board to the mother board and they all test fine.
- Varied and maxed out the two adjustment pots on the after touch sensor board and that didn’t work
- Replaced the after touch sensor board with another one and played with the adjustment pots again and that didn’t work
- Checked all cable connections to make sure they were snug and connected correctly
I can’t find a “global” setting that turns after touch on/off on the local keyboard. The strip itself looks to be in pretty good shape and the keybed/mechanism is not beat up at all.
Does anyone have any ideas? I’m kind of at a loss now.
Thanks,
Tim
