In the world of Weird Sound Generation, anything is sane if the output is the exact flavour of weird sound that you want.

In electronics terms, it is not usually desirable to have a wibbly ground. 

Having said this, you are not the first to experiment with oscillator cross coupling through the power rails. Experimenters having doing it for years when they play with a couple of 555s designed to cross couple with the stiffest of power lines!
