The reason there are so many 'arguments' a out how to use PNP or other toner 
PCB methods is this:

There are too many variables.
The type of printer, the brand of toner, the iron, the iron setting, the 
style of ironing, the room temperature, the copper surface, the phase of the 
moon.

I would even say that the person doing it is a variable as well.
So all that one can do, is to say what worked for them, and maybe it will 
work for another.

Certainly, nothing has worked very well for me!
