Hey y'all,
I'm wondering if anyone has a short list of simple design
considerations I should keep in mind as I do PCB layouts. just looking
for simple stuff that other folks who do analog synth PCB layout have
found to be important.
I'm working in Eagle if that makes any difference.
I'm doing typical analog synthesizer circuits on 2 sided boards.
Nothing very high frequency (above audio range) or high amplitude (+&-
12VDC max) and nothing too current hungry (10-20mA on the +&- rails).
I'm working on some circuits that utilize digital functions so there are
some audio frequency square waves which could cause noise but I'm trying
to keep those away from amp sections.
Right now the only special steps I take are:
-ground pours on both sides.
-keep very sensitive signals as short as possible (like feedback
resistors in hi-gain op amp configurations.
-Make low current traces 10-15mil wide. Power supply and high current
traces 24-36mil wide.
I love the auto route feature... I know i know. its just so darn easy.
I've gotten some good results by laying power lines and anything extra
sensitive by hand then auto routing the rest on a .25-.5mm grid.
Anything else I should add to the list?
thanks!!!!
