downside... the Heyco 'double-d' will not rotate in the panel. Round cord grips can twist
and loosen up.
(honestly, I'd probably favor the round hole, its easier for me to fabricate)

Absolutely!
Another advantage of the cord grip/cable gland is that it's a
real "piece of cake" to make the proper chassis hole, a Greenlee
knockout punch for 1/2" electrical conduit (actual hole diameter
7/8 inch) gets the job done in minutes.
Whereas with the Heyco type, you often need a properly sized
double-D shaped hole....make the hole too small, and you end
up mashing the cable grip trying to pound it into the hole
(hope you got a spare).....make the hole a wee bit too large,
and your "secure" cable anchor flops around like a half-dead fish.
Whereas a round hole precisely made with commonly available tools
is simplicity itself.....
