If it comes to it, I may have to ask for an explanation. Bare in mind

O-Level second time around. I can turn a formula into Perl or C, but I
have to have the formula first! (No idea how I got through my BTEC maths.)

ARM isn't my concern - it's the scale-up device. I'm looking to start
stuff on HCS08 8-bit devices. I figure that this is probably more
powerful than what was used in the old digital stuff, so should be able
to do it somehow.
