not too likely. The companding ADC/DAC were an attempt to provide better low-end resolution to
limited-bit systems (like 8 bit or 7 bit plus sign). Once modern parts of 12, 16, 24 bit became
available, the companding parts went in the dustbin...
besides, who would use a companding ADC/DAC in an FCP ???
