If you were after a fairly small, complete synth project, you could do a lot worse that Olivier Gillet's Shruthi synth:

If you wanted to put together your own monosynth design from modules (VCOs,filters, envs, etc) you'll find loads of places with schematics (and some PCB layouts), and loads of people here who can help.
