Place I used to work years ago used trich or freon (I forget which now) 
for PCB cleaning.  Very good too.  But not if you were a heavy smoker... 
the vapours were also rather good at softening all those thick tar 
deposits in the lungs, which then started sloshing around inside you. 
**UUGGHH**

Also used hydrofluoric acid for cleaning.  Yet more vapours to avoid 
inhaling.
