No, but we're all responsible consumers (right?) so we want to make sure that our money isn't funding stuff that we don't approve of, like unsafe working practices for the under-fives, or regimes with hideous human rights records, or,...etc etc etc.

Whether China is good or bad, and whether trading with China makes it better or worse is your judgement call. But I would ask you to think about it rather than merely choosing based on lowest price. A lot of shit is justified by "economic arguments".

Only the other day I had to abandon a perfectly good arms deal with a certain Libyan colonel just because the UK government belated withdrew his export license! Hot damn! No Christmas presents for my kids this year!
