This may not be relevant to the original poster, but could be useful in a
space-strapped modular design:
The usual reason for a centre tapped pot is to ground the middle pin, and
feed two unrelated signals to the other ends, so you have the option of
picking off a variable amount of signal 1 or 2.
Now, in many applications you can replace the centre tapped pot by a switch
and a normal pot - but that makes two holes on the panel.
My idea is this: take a dual ganged pot.
Run a constant voltage to one of the pots, and use this to generate a CV
indicating pot position.
Now use that CV to toggle a comparator - and use the comparator to control
switches to select the signal to the other pot, or indeed rearrange any
ammount of circuitry (eg filter configuration).
Yes, a certain amount of circuitry involved, but perhaps useful sometime.
