Nobody had any experience with electronics going into the class, but I got everybody soldering and knowing the difference between components by the end. They all walked away excited to be holding a unique instrument that they had modded themselves. First class ever. And all of them showed interest in taking a more advanced class involving reading schematics and assembling a circuit board from them!

Good work, Ian. I say anything that gets people started in musical
electronics is good. It's a bit like getting kids to read by giving
them comic books. Some people turn their noses up at comics (oops,
sorry... I meant "graphic novels"), but I say anything that gets them
interested is good.
