[sdiy] Maybe OT? Circuit Bending class!

Congrats with the good results, Ian. Three happy kids and an equally happy
dad is a good result no matter the subject.

Circuit bending can be viewed as "wrong" in not teaching anything about the
real workings of the circuits. On the other hand, just getting people with
no experience on the subject to grab the soldering iron and do *something*
is a great success in my view.

Some benders take pride in not knowing anything, but I do not believe in
that credo. I would rather expand the bending with simple electronic
projects, to get more out of the modified instruments, like 555-LFO's
filters, simple sequencing, etc.

I ran a circuit bending class a month ago with 12 high school students, who
were picked by their teachers to participate, so not all would have chosen
the class, had they been given a choice. Still most of them walked away with
a smile and their own personal instrument six hours later. Several of them
even expressed interest in having a more advanced course later.
