[sdiy] Maybe OT? Circuit Bending class!

Ian don't get me wrong and this is just a pet peeve of mine, but ...

I believe one should make the distinction between modifying a circuit
to do something one desires and randomly connecting wires and
components to make noises (cct bending). I suppose I'm a snob in that
regard, but something about cb'ing irks me, .. I did a fair bit of it
myself early on as an experiment , like touching the pcb of a
portable tape recorder and getting all sorts of squeals from the bias
oscillator and such, but that quickly became tiring, and I happily
returned to modifying and continuing to learn.

I would like to see people learning electronics, by building kits ,
even simple things like "led flashes (555), and power supplies. Kits
would be nice, but there's nothing like gathering the parts yourself.
Start by subscribing to a magazine, or buying some beginners books.
There's is a tremendous sense of satisfaction in understanding how
something works and having the confidence to modify for your liking
later, that randomly connecting things lacks in my opinion.
