Hello everybody
I just wanted to let you know the results:
Short summary:
it is not possible to repair the original potentiometer with parts of
new potentiometers (those are not compatible in any way).
it is not possible to build a special double potentiometer from new
standard potentiometers.
I will have go the costy way and order potentiometers from
potentiometer.com.
Details:
I tried three variations from Alpha, two from CTS, and one noname
potentiometer.
Most problems are caused by the fact, that the shafts are kind of
crimped into the slider parts. You have to destroy the sliderpart, to
remove it from the shaft. So it is not possible to use the sliderpart in
the old potentiometer, and it is not possible to build a special double
layer version from two standard versions.
Also there is no chance to repair the original potentiometers using the
resistance layer of a new potentiometer. The original potentiometers
used raised center contact strips, while all today 24mm potentiometers I
tried have flat center contact strips. Bending the slide contacts for
the center contact was not reliable.
If I could use the new slider part too, it would work, but I have to
destroy it, when I remove it from the original shaft. :(
