More expensive, but also more flexible as you can position each notch
individually instead of (like in a normal phaser) just having them
where the phase response happens to pass certain multiples of 180
degrees.
For instance you could quite easily have them equally spaced, or in
harmonic arrangements like f, 3*f, 5*f, 7*f etc, which is more like
the signal from a flanger! I've always (for some suitable value of
"always") wondered how that would sound. :-)
