[sdiy] Noob FET testing question.

I got a kit from m3electronix.com that is a microcontroller driven test box with LCD. You just connect the ezhooks in any order and it tells goodness or badness. But the website bounces now so look for a clone of it somewhere. Tests transistors, fets, triacs, scrs etc... and tells various parameters on the LCD as well as assigning EBC pin designations to the ezhooks...

Subject: [sdiy] Noob FET testing question.

Hi All.

I'm not familiar with testing FETs - does anyone have any favourite method, can it be done with a DMM, and what should I be looking for?

Some devices I'd like to check are JFETs - 2N4856 and 2N3819 J-channel, and 2N5460 P-channel.

Sorry if this is a dumb question.......any tips appreciated.

cheers,
Dave
