[sdiy] LM331 as frequency to voltage converter

arrgh. It depends on how long you are willing to wait for an accurate voltage, and what
level of ripple is acceptable. IMHO this type of circuit (tachometer) is useless for
synth PV conversion.
Look for the EFM archives and read the documents suppkied with the "PV-1" pitch to voltage
converter for a detailed description of why this is so.
The Korg MS-20 PV converter is the best design I know of in the "tachometer" style architecture.
It has a four-gang pot that sets the input filter and the ripple smoothing at the same time, and
a very unique pulse generator that works over a wider range than most monostable pulse generators.

Anyone ever use an LM331 as a frequency to voltage converter in a synth
diy app? I have two of them and I've seen some interting schematics.
