you'd need some pretty fine wire to roll your own and have it smaller than a breadbox...
(to achieve 2K resistance you need a LOT of wire)
not to mention the inductance you would get as a side effect (unless you use a special winding technique)

For anyone who wants to roll their own tempco, pure copper has a coefficient
of around +3930 ppm.
