[sdiy] SMF format -- how to store arrangement data?

Hi all,

in an attempt to move my old files to the modern age, I rev-eng'd the
Notator 3.21 SON format and am now able to parse these files (at least
to a usable extent). The plan is to convert them into SMF2 in order to
preserve the pattern/track structure rather than rendering the entire
arrangement into one (SMF0) or more (SMF1) tracks.

>From the documentation I found, however, it seems that there's no way of
annotating the arrangement (or the "chaining" of patterns) in SMF2. To
my understanding, I can mark tracks belonging to a sequence using the
sequence-number meta evant, but I don't see a officially specified way
to set up an arrangement track denoting the chaining of sequences.

Am I overlooking something, or do I really either have to render a full
arrangement using SMF1 (abandoning the original pattern structure) or
stick with the pattern structure using SMF2 but abandon arragement
information?

Regards,
 	Rainer
