[sdiy] ventilation for soldering

Last year, I picked up a Weller WFE2P for about $150 on ebay.
I believe these run for about $800 new, so I was quite lucky.
The thing is bombproof, runs pretty quiet and the replaceable filter
is very substantial. It is a solder tip fume extractor, so I just
attached a brass tube about 1CM above the soldering iron tip and ran
flexible tubing back to the WFE2P. I've been pretty happy with it, but
I've noticed that when there is a bit of a draft, fumes will be blown
away before they are sucked up. I'm not sure if that's because of my
DIY setup, or if that's just the nature of tip extractors? This also
has a hookup for a second iron as well.
