Take a look at the PAiA Hot Springs reverb:

Check out the schematic. Note how the dual tanks are driven out-of-phase
and recovered in-phase. This cancels out a lot of the "sproing" and mixed
at a low level it has a plate-like quality. It doesn't sound like any other
spring reverb.
