[sdiy] TI SN74LS624N, worth buying?

Op-amps are the workhorses of audio electronics, but they come in a
confusing lot of versions. That the 072 and 074 are almost omnipresent I am
aware of. But how good are they, compared to other "standard" op-amps? In my
box of amps I have several 741's and 1741's, which, as far as I am concerned
must be the lowest in the range. Do the 07x compare to them, or are they
much better/faster?
Also the 082/084 come into consideration. Having a higher number, my guess
would be "a little better than the 072/074". But as you can see, I do not
know.
Having several mixed op-amps lying around I am not as much worried by too
low quality, but more if I by accident use a too good/expensive/rare
component in a place where a regular one would do the nob quite as nicely.
Any links to op-amp comparisons?
Before being accused of hoarding components, my "story" is that I have had a
(mostly dormant) interest in electronics since my childhood, but having
taken up music again in my mature years, I have dusted off my collection
again.
In the meantime the collection of components has been magnified considerably
by inheriting the collections of two other electronics hobbyists after their
deaths. Thus I have now a fairly big stock of components with only little
knowledge of their use and history. Some of it may hopefully be turned into
synthesizer modules in the future.
Cheers
John
