[sdiy] Getting into the hobby (was: TI SN74LS624N, worth buying?)

Hi all
It is great to see such willingness to help a beginner getting into the
hobby! 
And I fully agree that as long as the parts are used for useful (i.e. fun)
endeavors, they are well spent. Rare or not.

I cannot myself claim to be new, as I have been hanging around this group
for several years. But I am new in the respect that I am still far from
knowing my way around electronics design. And in the respect that I have yet
to actually *build* my first synth.

But now it seems that I have finally ran out of excuses. This week has
brought me my first two rudimentary modules: A XR2009-based LFO and a
(non-voltage controlled) resonant low pass filter with plenty of character
and spite.

I know that it is not a lot. But I still consider myself a proud synth
builder. At last! ;-)

Hmmm. Might as well retrofit some voltage-controllability to the two
modules...
