Yes, I read something from you recently about spending your working life using a computer and not wanting to spend your musical life using one as well. Agreed (and I hope you don't mind me quoting you!).

Keeping them separate was the way I was heading and I was planning on the ability to make the 'master' also run as a 'slave' - but I hadn't thought about how that might affect PWM. Thanks.

I once tried this already with the doepfer PLL module and a VC-pulse
module and it was basically successful.
So maybe the 4046 is worth looking at? I haven't used it before, or the Doepfer PLL - but it has been suggested.
