I would certainly concur.
The LS62x are typically intended for PLL type applications. You'll get
at best a few octaves of frequency control range. The control is not
very linear, making a an accurate 1 volt/octave difficult if not impossible.
These could however be building blocks for a top octave generator, with
the frequency control useful for some tuning and vibrato.
