You could just use a thermostatically controlled fish tank heater - 
probably safer. That's the standard kit in many bubble etch tanks (mine 
included.)

I also use ammonium persulphate as an etchant. Used ferric chloride 
before, never again. Messy, messy, messy. And you often can't see what's 
going on in the solution.

Bear in mind that you're best off with some form of agitation or 
aeration. (My tank sticks to the aquarium theme and is aerated with a 
standard fist tank air pump.)
