Both exist and both seem to be classed as N channel although the Digikey parametric filtering sometime distinguishes the difference but not consistently.

This is where an understanding of DAC errors comes in.

That comment has tangentially got me wondering if anyone here is using or has used a DAC to drive a VCO without a lin->log convertor? Whilst a good 12 bit DAC with a lin->log convertor should be good for 10 octaves and a 3 cent resolution, a 12 bit DAC hasn't enough range for a direct log drive. I don't think a 16 bit device has either.
