I had a batch of bad 470 pF units -- it took me years to figure out why I just couldn't get some circuits to work.  At one point I tried replacing the cap and that was the problem.  It really doesn't make sense to use polystyrene any more.  C0G or NP0 ceramics work just as well, if not better.
