Biggest, baddest, overkill DSP? How about this:

* 32-bit ARM Cortex A8 with Neon SIMD running at 1GHz
* Integrated TMS320C64x+ DSP running at 430MHz
* 512 MB DDR DRAM
* on-board stereo codec
* on-board HDMI & S-video
* on-board ethernet, USB, SD, Serial
* GPIO, camera, digital audio, etc expansion connectors
* Runs Linux & other OSes. Do development in a GUI right on the board. 
Run Pd, JACK, Chuck, etc.

$149

Or go with the slightly older BB rev C4 for $125 (slower CPU, less 
memory, no ethernet)

Note that I'm only partly kidding. While it's possible to do audio work 
on these boards, there's a lot of other stuff to learn in the process. 
Not for the faint of heart...
