[sdiy] Soldering Iron Recomendations

I've happily use a couple of the Xytronic Auto-temp 369s which I got
from Rapid a few years back. I've preferred the quality of Xytronic over
the similarly cheap Aoyues.
Very affordable but good quality - does the required jobs just fine,
regular (not too fine) tips last for ages with LeadFree solder
(bloody hell, the stuff I use is now £45 a roll! - Omega II Fast Flow 2%
- Lead and Rosin Free)
But Rapid now don't carry the regular 369 - there is now just a digital
version for about £50.
I came very close to getting a Hakko last year.
Ramblings but maybe helpful a little?!
Cheers, Tom

I've happily used one of their cheapest models for the past few years without a hitch - and it's had lots of use. Recently upgraded to the LF-2000, w/- temp control - it's a pleasure to work with.
