Wow. Reading that, the message looks simple: don't sell to China!

I'm looking to diversify my business, adding very low volume, 
semi-bespoke electronics (includes a "nearly a synth" guitar/instrument 
processor) and, so far, RoHS and product liability are looking like my 
biggest hurdles.

Think I'd be totally stuffed as regards some of my ideas for retro-look 
gear incorporating Russian 'Nixie' tubes - all sorts of nasties in them.

Ha! Unlucky's my middle name - if they screened one in a million 
parcels, guess who's parcel would be the one they picked out?

Think some of the product liability issues can be addressed by not 
having anything mains powered (supply your own wall-wart) but reckon 
still need to have entire sections of the manual saying "do not drop on 
toes," "do not attempt to eat this unit, even if very hungry."

Those of you selling modules, etcetera - do you have to get a lawyer 
involved before you start for the liability side of things?
