...and if you're planning to get one and are located in Europe: get it
direct from the US, it's cheaper even after the import duties. They
delivered via DHL in just two days.

I have both and they are different enough to make them valuable additions to
any arsenal. Both are USB powered, but the Saleae Logic really wants to see
a highspeed USB2.0 port while the Logicport doesn't care. The hardware
triggers and the 500MHz sample rate on the Logicport on the other hand blow
the Saleae Logic out of the water. But if the USB port and computer can
keep up, the Saleae Logic can record traces for minutes, while the Logicport
will soon reach the 2k depth of it's buffer even with the hardware
compression for most signals. Saleae Logic has Linux software and an SDK,
Logicport software runs only on Windows, but still on Win98.

The last point was very important to me because I have an old Notebook with
Win98SE that didn't get much use any more - but in combination with the
Logicport it is now a very capable logic analyzer, even with touchscreen -
and if I really need more pixels I can connect it to an outboard screen via
VGA. Now if I'd manage to find the Propeller Tool version 1.0.5, I hope I
can run the PropScope on that notebook as well... the application runs after
I've managed to coerce .Net 2.0 onto the notebook, but it's missing the USB
drivers, which require Win2000/XP. :-(

You've got to love these folks: "It appear that the Logic software just
check the Vendor ID and Produce ID, and will update the driver and download
the firmware via USB. The VID and PID are written in the EPPROM and it’s
easy to counterfeit." At least they're honest.
