What is tip-brite? Is this something similar to Weller Tip Activator?
For those who don't know: Tip Activator is a small tin can filled with solid stuff. If you put the soldering tip into it, it melts (and stinks horribly). Afterwards the tip works slightly better, but only for a short time.
FWIW, for me it's not so much a lead-free vs. leaded solder problem, it's more coarse tips vs. fine tips. I always kept my tips for leaded and lead-free separate. I'm still on my first coarse tip for lead-free (after years); but have worn out quite some of the fine tips, both for leaded and lead-free solder.
