[sdiy] 3x or 5x Diopter Magnifying Lamp?

Hi,
I think that everyone may need something different for SMT work !
I know that I found that a small hand held eye glass sometimes worked 
for me, but I needed x7 magnification to see what I was doing.
for really small stuff I found a x20 eyeglass worked but had a limited 
field of view.
I guess this is something you need to try out for yourself as everyone's 
eye sight is different.
I'm not sure if a X5 diopter lens means you would have to get the work 
closer to the lens to get it in focus than with the x3 lens
