it's also very discouraging when I'm doing this for free to be told "Fix it".

I'm aware of the problem, at the moment there are two options.

1) open it up, so when you confirm by email you can post, that will
let spammers get in, something I'm sure none of us wants.
2) Keep it as it is, it means you have a short delay (usually less
than 8 to 10 hours) whilst I check your profile and make sure you look
like a person who's interested in synths and not "enlargement
tablets".

If I find a resolution, I will use it, until then I'm erring on the
side of caution with the intention of preventing what I thought would
be a valuable asset to the community.

You don't have to use it, I just thought it would be a good idea.
