[sdiy] Roland SH101 Gate output behaviour

I don't have access to my 101 at the moment, but:

I've used it to sequence my modular before - and I don't recall a problem
with the gates. Sounds like something odd is happening.

I can't remember: perhaps portamento mode has something to do with it?
In "Auto" mode the glides are triggered by overlapping gates. Turn up the
porta time and see if your sequence is still gliding when the switch is
turned off.

Also, the "hold" button may have an effect here. When recording a
sequence, the hold button makes it glide to the next note. Sticky button /
cruddy trace on the PCB around the hold circuit?

Subject: [sdiy] Roland SH101 Gate output behaviour

Hi all,

Can someone with an SH101 do a quick check for me?

Does the Gate output produce a series of pulses when the synth is playing
back a sequence from the internal sequencer?

It looks like it probably should, but the Gate comes straight from the uP,
so if it isn't doing (and mine doesn't) it's hard to see what might be
faulty. On mine, the Gate remains high all the time when you play a
sequence. I'd like to know if this is normal.

Thanks,
Tom
